Project Description

Wolfen Mill is in Lancashire, in the north and east area of Preston (13 miles) and towards Clitheroe (8miles). We are located in the Forest of Bowland an AONB – Area of outstanding natural beauty. The locality of Clitheroe is also known as the Ribble Valley.

Wolfen Mill is a 350 year old country mill converted in to 9 properties with an additional cottage situated next door to our own dwelling.

They are located just 1 mile outside of the village of chipping – walkable distance and the village has two pubs, cafe, butchers and local shop.

Wolfen Mill are at the foot of the fells and appeal to couples who want a relaxing break away for a hectic lifestyle. They may want to walk but they are not primarily walkers. They want luxury/quality accommodation, the countryside and to share time with each other. They appeal to upwardly young guests, right though to the empty nesters.

They trade all year round and the typical break has changed from weekly holidays and off season short breaks to more short breaks with some weekly lets in the summer. They offer flexible start dates and breaks of a minimum of 2 nights upwards.

They are able to rent out all or most of the properties to ‘Groups’ this target market is made up of extended family, groups of friends who want to join up for a weekend break to catch up and party. They also offer weddings at Wolfen Mill.

The Insight

Creativo-it were approached by Wolfen Mill regards to providing an initial review of their current websites and social media presence and highlight any potential opportunities. Furthermore, based on the finding we were requested to re-design and develop a new website ensuring SEO best practices were followed along with a design that works well with all devices. Consideration was needed for integration of their existing booking system (Supercontrol).

They want to find a means to deliver greater volumes of traffic to each site by all means available in a digital market. Improve our guest reviews across a number of platforms – mainly Trip Advisor but also on other marketing channels which they employ. To continue development of the websites to improve their technical capabilities, user friendliness and ability to display across a range of devices. Implement reactive websites.To link our availability across a number of marketing platforms which will link with our back office booking system and on-line availability system called Supercontrol

The Solution

We utilised Wrodpress and styled to a contemporary looking design that we felt would work well in the luxury cottage market. We enhanced sliders to ensure that captions could dynamically display throughout the site considering full responsiveness to different sized displays.
